While a tax increase may be very distasteful, to make a pledge not to increase taxes no matter what is very regressive. All of the facts and figures must be weighed in order to make an informed decision. Of course, an increase should be avoided if possible, But the Town must still move on should an increase be deemed necessary. It was like voting againt a tax increase last year simply as a political statement. We sould expect more thought and honesty. If it is needed, then the responsible thing to do is vote appropriately. It is not in a Towns best interest to promise this before having all of the facts and data to support such a promise.
