Police charge two teenagers with stealing car

A joyride in a stolen car quickly came to end for two area teenagers.

According to police records, two teenagers, a 16-year-old from Waterbury, and a 13-year-old from Naugatuck, are accused of stealing a Honda Accord on Sunday morning from Aetna Street. The names of the teenagers were not released.

The teenagers were arrested on Baldwin Street in Waterbury after a short police pursuit, according to records.

The driver of the car, the 16-year-old, was charged with conspiracy to commit larceny in the second degree, criminal trover in the second degree, engaging an officer in pursuit, reckless driving, operating without a license, and interfering with an officer.

The 16-year-old was held on behalf of the Waterbury Juvenile Probation Office on a take into custody order until he appears in court.

The 13-year-old was charged with conspiracy to commit larceny in the second degree and interfering with an officer. He was released on a promise to appear to his parents.
