NAUGATUCK — A 32-year-old Naugatuck man is facing charges after police say he robbed a store on Rubber Avenue with a knife Tuesday morning.

Police responded to an armed robbery at the Discount Smoke Shop at 436 Rubber Ave. shortly after 10 a.m. A state police canine tracked the suspect’s trail to 16 Hoadley St., which is less than 500 feet from the store, where officers found Sean Outlaw, who lives at the house, police said.

Police said Outlaw jumped the counter at the smoke shop, threatened the clerk with a pocket knife, grabbed bank bags and fled the store on foot. The money, $2,500, was recovered after searching the house on a warrant, police said.

Outlaw was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree larceny and breach of peace. He was held on a $50,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court today.
