A Constitution Week display was featured in the library that included historical information, informative handouts, relevant books from the library’s collection and a signed proclamation from Naugatuck Mayor Robert Mezzo designating Sept. 17-23 to be Constitution Week in Naugatuck. The tradition of celebrating Constitution Week was started many years ago by the Daughters of the American Revolution. The local observation was coordinated by the Trumbull-Porter Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. About 400 runners and walkers participated in the event, which included a 5K and a 2-mile walk. The event is put on by Woodland Worldwide, a school-based nonprofit organization with a mission to advance the rights of women and girls within the community and around the world. The run featured a superhero theme and was dubbed the ‘Superhero(ine) Run4Rev.’ The proceeds from the event benefit Woodland Worldwide, the Gimbichu Project and the Malala Fund. –ELIO GUGLIOTTI
