The club has been donating a non-fiction book, written by a female author, in honor of each club president annually. Home Care Services participated in the annual Griffin Hospital Golf Classic June 10 and donated money they won to Treasured Time. Treasured Time is a non-profit foundation that helps grant wishes of parents with life-threatening illnesses who want to create a lasting memory for their children. ‘Instead of taking that money as their own, they chose to support us on our journey of ‘Giving the Gift of Moments’ program,’ said Treasured Time founder and CEO Suzanne Major in a press release. ‘They truly exemplify what being a humanitarian is. Atchison is a medical assistant at Saint Mary’s Urgent Care Center in Naugatuck and has been accepted into the nursing program at Naugatuck Valley Community College. Pictured with Atchison is Chad Wable, FACHE, president and chief executive officer of Saint Mary’s Health System. –CONTRIBUTED Prospect resident William Flormann, a student at Woodland Regional High School in Beacon Falls, completed the two-week Norwich University Future Leader Camp July 12 at the senior military college in Northfield, Vt. The camp is designed to develop the leadership skills of current high school students and includes physical fitness training, basic first aid training, orienteering and leadership classes. To qualify for the camp, applicants are required to have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and submit a letter of recommendation. Pratt served as chief from 2010 until 2014. Before presenting Pratt with the gift, Bielik told Pratt that the entire town appreciates the time and effort he put in as chief. ‘It’s a responsibility that nobody enters into lightly and everybody who takes it takes it seriously and helps to move this town forward and keep this town safe. We can’t say enough to express our gratitude. Words fail us in trying to do that,’ Bielik said.
