First graders at Laurel Ledge Elementary School in Beacon Falls recently received a visit from Mo, a therapy dog owned by Beacon Falls resident Brian Ploss, who is certified through Therapy Dogs Inc. Mo is a 6-and-a-half year old retired greyhound, who raced under the name Kool Moment. Students were able to learn about all the various visits Ploss and Mo make, which include Griffin Hospital through an organization called P.A.W.S (People and Animals Working in Spirit) and at read-a-thons at local libraries. They also do meet and greets at various PETCO stores with the PUPS organization to help find homes for retired greyhounds. -CONTRIBUTED
