Naugatuck High School paid tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting Dec. 21. Twenty-six students lined the middle of the gym and created a bubble in honor of each of the 26 victims as their names were read. The tribute included the poem, ‘The Field Trip,’ read by sophomore Lacie Dube and ‘Danny Boy’ sung by junior Jussonjah Duby accompanied by junior Megan McSweeny on the flute. –LUKE MARSHALL

American Legion Post 25 Commander Bruce Carlson presents Navy Petty Officer Joseph McDonald, left, and Army Private Dillon Gmitter, both of Beacon Falls, with gift cards Dec. 20 during the post’s monthly meeting at the Beacon Falls Senior Center. Presenting residents, who are on active duty with gift cards, is an annual tradition for the post, Carlson said. Both McDonald and Gmitter were on leave. –LUKE MARSHALL
