Naugatuck Boy Scout Troop 138 spent the week of July 15 at Camp Yawgoog in Rhode Island. The boys earned merit badges for various activities like astronomy, swimming, mammal study, nature study, and archery during the week. –CONTRIBUTED

The bank recently welcomed back Gallagher from his deployment last year supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. The Prospect Historical Society recently named Carolyn Luddy (center sitting) the recipient of the $1,000 Nellie and Ruth Cowdell Scholarship. Luddy graduated from Woodland Regional High School this year and will attend the University of Connecticut in the fall. Cheshire Garden Club President Sue D'Agostino, of Prospect (right) and Scholarship Chair Ann O'Hara present Cheshire High School graduate Brian Sokoloff with a $1,000 scholarship award. The award is available to applicants pursuing the study of conservation, the environment, plant sciences or related fields. Sokoloff will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. –CONTRIBUTED

Sisters Elissa Kasek, 3, and Emily Kasek, 5, of Naugatuck recently donated over 8 inches of their hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. The hair provided by donators goes to make wigs for women affected by hair loss from cancer. –CONTRIBUTED

Justin Jason Pelliccia, from Naugatuck, was recently inducted as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, a national leadership and honors organization at the University of Southern Florida. Pelliccia, who is the son of Bob and Debbi Pelliccia of Naugatuck, was also named to the Dean’s List at the University of Southern Florida for all three semesters in the 2011-12 school year. –CONTRIBUTED
