NAUGATUCK – Trumbull-Porter Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) sponsored their fourth annual Valentine making party Jan. 9 as part of the DAR Project Patriot. More than 30 adults and children gathered at the Salem Lutheran Church in Naugatuck to make Valentine cards to send to wounded service men and women being treated at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. Landstuhl Regional Medical Center is the largest American hospital outside of the United States. When our active duty military are severely injured, they are sent by Medivac to Landstuhl, Germany. These soldiers arrive at Landstuhl with essentially nothing.

Participants were from Trumbull-Porter Chapter DAR and their families, the Charles Merriman Society Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.), Girl Scout Troop 64188, Brownie Troop 64047 sponsored by Salem Lutheran Church, and members of Salem Lutheran. Participants made 170 valentines and collected candy to be sent to the service men and women at Landstuhl.
The DAR Project Patriot Committee is the official Daughters of the American Revolution committee that supports America’s service personnel in current conflicts abroad. DAR Project Patriot was activated as the official NSDAR-approved special committee to organize and coordinate DAR support for the war against terrorism.

The Trumbull-Porter Chapter DAR serves Naugatuck, Middlebury, Watertown, Southbury, Thomaston, Woodbury, Waterbury and many other area towns. For more information contact Katie Gabrielson, Registrar and Project Patriot Chairman, at 203-729-3349.
