Naugatuck High School

Valedictorian

  • How does it feel to have earned valedictorian honors?

“I feel honored and proud to be able to represent Naugatuck High School as its valedictorian. Earning this honor has been difficult, but I feel that all the work to achieve this goal is well spent. Also, I’m very glad to be able to share the honor with my friend Dayna Seeger because I feel without each other, this accomplishment would have been impossible.”

  • To what to you attribute your success?

“My success comes mostly from my home. My mother, Geny Jurado, has always valued education and instilled this same concept in me. I have two older sisters, Usseth and Amanliz Jurado, who have always supported and helped me throughout my academic career. Though most of my success is the result of the teachers and academic advisors who encouraged our success in every possible way.”

  • What are your plans after graduation?

“I plan to attend the University of Connecticut at Storrs. I intend to major in mechanical engineering with a minor in biomedical engineering.”

  • What is your fondest memory of high school?

“My fondest memory of high school would be right now, the end of senior year. Everything seems so peaceful, yet it will be the hardest time of these four years. With all the goodbyes and the signing of our yearbook, these last couple days are surreal. In my mind, it remains unreal that our times in Naugatuck School District can be over. I will miss the schools, but I will never forget.”

  • What message would you like to give your fellow graduates?

“Follow your heart and never let anything stand in your way to reaching your full potential.”
