Letter: State shouldn’t subsidize illegal immigration

letters_flatTo the editor,

Once again the great high-minded people up in Hartford have decided that rewarding criminality is the best policy. This time it is driver’s licenses for illegal aliens. As usual my initial response was, What are they thinking? Then I stopped and realized this is Connecticut. Land of the great disconnect.

I was recently going through some numbers put forth by F.A.I.R. (Federation for American Immigration Reform). They have a state-by-state break down of how much revenue is being extracted from the working man to subsidize illegal immigration. For Connecticut here is the breakdown:

$548 million per year to educate their children.

$104 million per year on unreimbursed healthcare.

$61 million per year for the criminal justice system.

$87.6 million per year for welfare.

$157 million per year for additional state and local operating costs.

$835 per year in annual cost to each of Connecticut’s native born households.

Now add up these proven figures and you have a total cost of $957,000,000 I see a lot of zeros here. Now I didn’t see any figures on lost wages and or wage debasement but it is happening since they are taking jobs away from my fellow Americans and suppressing the prevailing wage all at the same time.

Now mind you that I only have a 12th-grade education and am a member of the struggling blue collar class. Yet, if I can access this information, and make this analysis, you can bet your bottom dollar these Harvard, Princeton, Yale educated people are able to also. Now I won’t go down the laundry list of things which this money could be better spent on, there just isn’t enough paper. What we the citizens of Connecticut should be doing is ask a hard question. Since it is already too evident that they are not working for us, whom are they actually working for? Now throwing all those bums out would be a good start, but we need to give the fresh roster our mandate. It is long over due that the working man got a break. Will you remember in November that your state government has given away almost $1,000,000,000 of your money, every year to people that don’t deserve it?
