letters_flatTo the editor,

Beacon Falls Public Library continues to amaze us with all that they offer in their small 1,200 square foot space. Head Librarian Ms. Marsha is an expert at keeping the library’s collections of books, DVDs and other media, current and relevant, for both adults and children. She is also an expert at stretching the budget to get the most for our taxpayer dollars.  Recently, through frugal purchasing, the library was able to replace two of the oldest patron laptops with new models, which are up and running.

Did you or your student get a new tablet or reading device for the holidays? If you want access to hundreds of free library ebooks through the Overdrive system on the library’s website, you can go to www.mybflib.org. Overdrive is compatible with the Nook and Kindle and their apps on tablets and smartphones, and our librarians can show you how to set up Overdrive on your device for easy downloading. Just call the library, set up a time to come in, and Ms. Sue will turn you into an expert on the Overdrive system.

The Friends of the Library Facebook page has over 300 followers and continues to grow.  “Like” Friends of the Beacon Falls Library on Facebook to receive updates on the goings-on at the library, information on programming, upcoming events, town news and even plans for the future.

Ms. Shari, our program librarian, continues to expand the library’s programs for all age groups. Our fall bus trip to Salem, Mass. was very successful. Where should we go next?   If you and your children have a quiet Saturday morning coming up, there are three Saturday programs coming up: Jan. 26, Construction Day; Feb. 2 , Bring Your Child to the Library Day; Feb. 9, Valentine Crafts. Shari’s latest venture is a Lego Club and the Friends of the Library and the Library Board of Trustees are supporting this project with “building” funds.

Stop by the Beacon Falls Library today and see all that they offer.
