Woodland senior Alik Bures, center, signed his National Letter of Intent Monday night to play football at Southern Connecticut State University. The 6-foot-7, 297-pounder started at left tackle for the Hawks, who were the Class S and Naugatuck Valley League runners-up in 2013. ‘I really like the campus, the facilities and the coaching staff,’ Bures said. ‘As long as I work hard, I know I can go far.’ Bures' parents, Craig and Kristin, joined him for the signing. His older brother, Ian, plays football at Plymouth State in New Hampshire. –KYLE BRENNAN
