ROSE HOPE ANIMAL SHELTER
There will be a benefit fundraiser for the Rose Hope Animal Refuge (Shelter) to be held at Friendly’s, 130 Rubber Avenue, Naugatuck on September 15 from 5-8pm.
Friendly’s is donating 10% of all sales raised to the Rose Hope Animal Refuge (Shelter) used for medical expenses which are desperately needed. There will also be a bake sale (with homemade jam, cakes, brownies and cookies) and a $2 raffle held at the same event and 100% of those proceeds will be donated to the Rose Hope. Rose Hope is facing very hard times as donations and adoptions are down, and the amount of animals at Rose Hope has increased. We also will be having an “Under the Tent” Petsmart adoption event on September 11 and 12 from 11 a.m- 4 p.m. at the Petsmart parking lot located on Bank Street, Waterbury, Ct. FUNDRAISER AND RAFFLE

NHS CLASS OF ’04 RECORDS
In keeping with state and federal regulations on confidentiality, school officials plan to destroy special education records of students belonging to the graduating class of 2004 (date of birth 1985 and 1986) and others of students who attended NHS but did not graduate.

Mark your calendars for the St. Michael’s Annual Village Green Fair coming up Friday September 10 from 10-9pm and Saturday September 11 from 10-7pm on the Green in Naugatuck. FALL BABE RUTH REGISTRATION

SOCCER REGISTRATION EXTENDED
Registration for Naugatuck Youth Soccer has been extended. Children who turn 5 before August 1, 2010 are eligible to play. Registration fees $65 for U5-U10; $110 for U11 and up. Please make your check out to NYS and include a COPY of your child’s birth certificate if they have never played for NYS before.
Fall soccer season begins early September. Registered players will receive a phone toward the end of August or the beginning of September. Players are required to have shin guards and shorts. ART AND MUSIC PROGRAM
A collaborative program of art and music will be held at the Naugatuck Historical Society Museum on Saturday evening, September 11 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday September 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Some of the artists featured include Roseanne Shea, Judy Jaworski, Lewis Dube, Marianna Vagnini and the Woodwind Ensemble of the Naugatuck Community Band. UNITED WAY GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 26th Annual John E. Letts,Sr. Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit the United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls will be held Sept. 13 at The Country Club of Waterbury .The $200 entry fee includes 18 holes of

The Naugatuck Park and Recreation Department is sponsoring golf lesions during the month of September.

27TH ANNUAL HARVEST MOON FESTIVAL
The 27th Annual Harvest Moon Festival will be held Sept. 17-18 on the Naugatuck green. Crafters are wanted and should call (203) 729-4272 to reserve a space. Live Well, a free, six-week workshop, will be offered at the Naugatuck Senior Center at 300 Meadow Street from Aug 19 to Sept. 23 from 9-11:30 a.m. Call to sign up. Live Well is designed for adults ages 55 and older who want to take charge of their ongoing health problems and get relief from their pain, fatigue, and other symptoms. NAUGATUCK RETIRED MEN’S CLUB
The Naugatuck Retired Men’s Club is looking for new members. Meetings are held every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Senior Center, 300 Meadow St. The group is for men who enjoy shooting pool, playing cards, and attending picnics and banquets. NHS CLASS OF 1960 REUNION
The 50th Reunion Committee has selected the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Southbury as the site for the 50th Reunion Celebration for the Naugatuck High School Class of 1960. The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25. A cocktail hour will be held from 6 to 7:30 followed by dinner and dancing (music will be provided by the Mark Fusco Trio). The following day, members of the class will get together for a picnic at the Hop Brook Park pavilion from 12 noon to 5 p.m.

BEACON FALLS
BEACON FALLS LIBRARY EVENTS
Local historian and baseball fan, Chris Bielik will discuss the truth behind the NY Yankees and Boston Red Socks rivalry. Fans should wear their favorite team’s logo. Back by popular demand, the Beacon falls Public Library is again coordinating a bus trip to historic Salem, MA. The trip will be by charter bus and is scheduled for Sunday, October 17. We will leave Beacon Falls at 7:00 a.m. and leave Salem at 4:00 p.m. The cost is $26.00 per person. Participants are responsible for setting their own agenda while in Salem. The Beacon Falls Conservation Commission meets the first Monday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall to discuss matters of open space and conservation.

There are exercise classes every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 9 a.m.; lunch on Wednesdays at 12 noon (call the center for menu and to sign up); Wii bowling on Wednesdays at 1 p.m.; hot dogs ($1.50) and bingo on the second and fourth Thursdays of the money; and excursions every Friday leaving the center at 10 a.m. (Call for destination and to reserve, as space is limited) New members are welcome.
ADULT BASKETBALL LEAGUE
Adult basketball is held every Tuesday and Friday evening in the Laurel Ledge gymnasium at 7 p.m. for Beacon Falls and Prospect residents.

POST 194 TAG SALE
The American Legion Post 194 / Auxiliary Tag Sale will be held rain or shine on Saturday September 18 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at St. Anthony’s parking lot next to Dunkin Donuts on Route 69, Prospect.
Again, we are ever so grateful each year to the many people of Prospect and surrounding towns who come by to say, “Hello.” We’ll have something for everyone. ZUMBA
This program is held on Saturdays from 9:45 – 10:30 a.m. at the Prospect Grange Hall. It is open to anyone 14 years of age or older. Zumba is an up-and-coming style of aerobics which incorporates hip salsa dancing with a cardiovascular workout. Cost is $60 for residents and $65 for non-residents.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
If you are interested in playing a couple of pickup games a week, join us at Long River Middle School for a good time. The league consists of women over 18 playing friendly pickup games during the evenings. The games take place on Monday nights and are held from 7-9 p.m. in the LRMS Gymnasium.
