Citizen’s News is a weekly newspaper, covering Naugatuck, Prospect and Beacon Falls, Conn. In 2009, it was honored by the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists with 13 Excellence in Journalism awards in the community, non-daily category: First place for general reporting, in-depth reporting, investigative reporting, sports news, sports column, arts and entertainment reporting and business news; second place for general reporting and in-depth reporting; and honorable mention for opinion column, general reporting series and sports feature. Its staff took first place among all state submissions, of any circulation group, in the special supplement category for its Nov. 2009 Thanksgiving Football section.
