ANSONIA – Woodland senior Tyler Carlos notched a hat trick, including two goals in the second half, to help the Hawks to a come-from-behind, 3-2 victory over Ansonia Friday afternoon to clinch the program’s first-ever Naugatuck Valley League Brass Division championship.

Carlos scored the go-ahead goal in the second half after being fouled in the box. He crossed his penalty kick to the right side of the net to complete his hat trick and put the Hawks ahead for good.

The senior tied the game earlier in the half on a header to the left side of the net off a corner kick. He scored the game’s first goal in the first half on a direct kick.

The win moved Woodland to 12-2 overall, improving on what is already a school record for wins in a season. The Hawks finished 8-0 in the Brass Division, sealing the program’s first championship of any kind.
